I had the honor of sitting down with 2024 State of New York Youth Poet Laureate OlaRose Ndubuisi from Pittsford to discuss her advocacy for global awareness of scoliosis. I’m grateful to OlaRose for her impassioned advocacy, and I look forward to working with her to address this important issue.

Continuing the Fight Against Cancer

Congressman Morelle meets with the CDC Cancer Director

Millions of families—including my own—know the heartache of receiving a cancer diagnosis. We owe it to these families to do everything we can to put an end to this devastating disease.

This week I met with the Centers for Disease Control’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control, whose team is working every day to fight back against cancer. I’m grateful for their partnership as we work to advance programs and legislation to support patients and families, expand treatment options, and put an end to this horrible disease as we know it.

Chasing Waterfalls

High Falls are an iconic part of Rochester’s landscape—they bring together tourists and locals to marvel at their beauty, and they serve as essential economic drivers for our region. Earlier in May, I was surprised to learn the Falls did not officially exist in the United States Geological Survey’s database. I took action to right this wrong and ensure the Falls have the national recognition they deserve.

We’ve all known High, Middle, and Lower Falls by these names for decades, and now it’s official. I’m grateful to the many local partners who brought this issue to my attention and supported this effort, including Rochester City Council and Genesee RiverWatch. Though it may seem like a small victory, it serves as an important step to ensure Rochester’s natural beauty and resources are acknowledged, appreciated, and preserved for decades to come.

Engaging Stakeholders on the Future of Artificial Intelligence

The growth of artificial intelligence (A.I.) technologies has extraordinary potential for our society—but it also poses significant threats we must take seriously.

I recently joined the American Society for AI to discuss my work in Congress to combat abuse of A.I., including my legislation to prevent deepfake pornography and misleading election content. I appreciated this opportunity to engage with important stakeholders, listen to their thoughtful questions, and gain insights on my work in Congress.

Rep. Morelle walks to Nationals Park for the Congressional Baseball Game

On Wednesday, I took the field at Nationals Park where I was proud to represent my alma mater Eastridge High School and serve as Third Base Coach for the Democrats in the Congressional Baseball Game.

Despite our loss, a great time was had by all, and we successfully raised money for several well-deserved charities. Can’t wait to be back on the field again next year!
