Dino Day
Saturday, July 13
10 am - 2 pm
This is a Family Day you won’t want to miss, with incredible partners and paleo experts coming from all over the state to teach you everything you need to know about Wyoming in the time of the dinosaurs.
Fossil Butte National Monument, Wyoming State Geological Survey, UW Williams Conservatory, Rocky Mountain Herbarium, and the UW Geological Museum are all showing up with games, activities, and opportunities to learn about the prehistoric past. Plus, visit our "field of dinos" to see how big (and small!) some of your favorite dinos were, explore our tunnel through time, see our resident triceratops, make dino-themed crafts, play games, and even meet modern day dinosaurs in our chicken petting zoo!
Family Days are generously sponsored by Scheels in Johnstown, CO. Thanks to their support, these events are always free and open to everyone!
2023 Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to Katey Parris!
Katey has been volunteering with us since September, 2022. She has cataloged countless items in our Education collection and even helped train the cataloging volunteers that have come after her. She frequently works at the welcome desk and does a great job helping our visitors feel right at home when they come to see us. And when we were in need of new board members last summer, she graciously stepped up to take a role. Katey goes above and beyond to make sure that all the staff at the museum know that they can rely on her, and it makes a tremendous impact on the work that we are able to do. Thank you, Katey!

Creative Aging Students' Artwork
Over the last five weeks, 10 students have been learning the art of printmaking through a Creative Aging grant from Wyoming's Art Council.
Join us on July 9th for a reception celebrating the students, and enjoy an exhibit of their final products! Their artworks, along with statements from the artists themselves, will be on display in our lobby through August 31st.
Sponsor Spotlight
Pizza to the Polls
This month's Sponsor Spotlight is all about Pizza to the Polls, a nationwide organization that delivers free food to people who are participating in civic life.
Pizza to the Polls has sponsored "A Slice of History" at the Wyoming State Museum two years in a row now. All we have to do is sign up for pizza, then they coordinate ordering, timing, and delivery. It makes things super easy for us, and it makes our Civic Season event so much more FUN! I mean, who doesn't love a pizza party?
Their story began the weekend before the 2016 election, when long lines were reported at early voting locations across the country. In a few short hours, the co-founders came up with a name, a Twitter handle, a website, and a plan: Give pizza to the people. And give people watching at home a way to help.
By the morning of Election Day, they had raised $10k and were confronted with the seemingly impossible task of spending it all before the polls closed. We recruited and trained a team of 20+ volunteers to order and coordinate the delivery of 2k+ pizzas to 100+ polling places across 24 states.
So, if you end up stuck in a super long poll line this fall, think of Pizza to the Polls! They have a "Send Pizza" page where you can upload proof of your long line, then they'll come to the rescue!
