Dear Friends,
Today is Flag Day. I wear a pin of our flag with the inscription: “One country, one destiny.” That is the same message that was embroidered in Abraham Lincoln’s coat the night he was assassinated at Ford’s Theatre. I wear the flag pin today with special appreciation for President Lincoln, having just been awarded the Lincoln Medal from the Ford’s Theatre Society.
It was my privilege to accept this award, with deep reverence for President Abraham Lincoln and his legacy and great appreciation for my courageous House Democratic colleagues, who have made our progress For The People possible.
It is my tremendous honor to serve in Congress under the Dome that Lincoln built and to fulfill our national anthem — give “proof through the night that our flag is still there” — with liberty and justice for all.
As always, I am grateful to my family, my wonderful San Francisco constituents, and all of you — our Volunteers in Politics — who make my public service and our wins For The People possible.
Thank you for your continued support. God bless you and God bless America!
Nancy
