Do you remember when Martin O’Malley taxed the RAIN?
We do.
It was ridiculous. But what was equally as absurd were all of the high taxes and rules and regulations in Annapolis and Washington that made things more complicated than they needed to be.
We’re seeing the same thing right now.
You might not have to pay taxes on the rain anymore, but you don’t have to turn on the news to feel the pain at the pump or grapple with the grocery bill that’s 30% higher than what it was just a few years ago.
With soaring inflation and high costs of living, now is the time to send a message to Washington to reject any new tax hikes.
This week, Gov. Hogan met with Prince George’s County small business owners to hear firsthand the challenges they are facing with rising costs and violent crime.
Unfortunately, her track record doesn’t indicate she will…
Under the leadership of County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Prince George’s County faces a skyrocketing deficit that is projected to grow to $387 million!
As a result, the county’s financial outlook was recently downgraded, and she is openly discussing raising taxes on her constituents.
It should be absolutely clear the last thing they need right now is higher taxes.
But Gov. Hogan’s opponent isn’t stopping there. In fact, she is already campaigning on raising taxes at the federal level!
Here’s the simple truth: Hardworking Marylanders and Americans need economic relief—not tax hikes. Do you agree?
It should go without saying that raising taxes will not solve anything. It will only burden Marylanders and Americans with increased expenses during an already economically uncertain time.
When Gov. Hogan was in office, he approached the budget with common sense and cut taxes eight years in a row by $4.7 billion and implemented a $1.86 billion tax package–the largest tax cut in state history. He did this while creating a record budget surplus.
Unlike his opponent, Gov. Hogan knows how to turn a failing economic trajectory around, and he would be privileged to do it as your Senator.
But here’s the hard truth: he will not get to the Senate without grassroots support. It is the only reason we’ve seen success so far, and it will be the only way to win this competitive race.
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
