John, this week I did something I never thought I’d have to do. I sent a letter imploring Speaker Johnson to remove and replace GOP Reps. Scott Perry and Ronny Jackson from the House Intel Committee. To put it simply, Perry and Jackson are both unfit to serve in this critical role.

I am a veteran; I take our duty to those who serve very seriously. We cannot allow anyone who is under investigation for playing a role in the Jan. 6 attacks or who is at risk of being compromised in any way by our adversaries to have access to our nation’s dearest intelligence.

I wish this wasn’t necessary; I’d much prefer to see our progress on the National Defense Authorization Act or our record-low unemployment rates make headlines. But our national security is vital, and these representatives could jeopardize that every day. The American people deserve better.

I know this request of the speaker may make me more of a target for right-wing extremists. I don’t relish taking action against my fellow members, but I needed to be sure of the integrity of our institutions and the security of our intelligence. You can read more about my decision here:

As always, I strive to serve both our nation and the voters of PA-6 with integrity, uphold our founding principles, and stand with all Americans who believe we can work together for a better future.

Thank you so much for your support. There’s work to be done,

Chrissy
