New York State Senate Passes Retail Worker Safety Act 

"The New York State Senate has passed the Retail Worker Safety Act, following the passage of the coordinating bill in the Assembly. This landmark legislation mandates corporate retail employers to adopt comprehensive violence prevention plans, train workers in de-escalation and active shooter scenarios, and for large employers, install panic buttons throughout the workplace."

Hudbay and Multiple Labor Unions Announce Project Labor Agreement Letter of Intent to Support Copper World Mine Project 

“Copper World, Inc. jointly announces the signing and acceptance of a Letter of Intent with several unions, including The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Forgers and Helpers Local 627; The Laborers International Union of North America Local 1184; and The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 1912. The letter outlines the intention to enter into a mutually acceptable Project Labor Agreement for the construction of the Copper World Mine in Pima County, Arizona."

Tucson Climate Action Hub

"On May 4, 2024, the Mayor and Council proudly adopted the City’s first-ever Heat Action Roadmap, paving the way for a safer, more resilient future in the face of extreme heat. In a bold and swift move, the Mayor and Council also introduced the City’s Heat Protection Ordinance for City Contractors. This historic milestone is further complemented by the implementation of an Administrative Directive, extending vital heat protection measures to City workers across all departments."

Arizona GOP Sends More 'Deeply Undemocratic' Laws to November Ballot 

"On Wednesday, GOP lawmakers pushed through several ballot referrals, including one that would eliminate term limits for judges across the state. Superior Court judges generally serve for a period of four years before facing reelection, while state appellate judges and Arizona Supreme Court justices hold office for six years."
