Bump stocks make semi-automatic firearms act like fully automatic weapons. Full stop.

They were used by the Las Vegas shooter in 2017 – allowing the shooter to send off 90 shots in 10 seconds – killing 60 people and injuring over 400 more in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

Months later, the Trump Administration Justice Department rightly banned bump stocks, a small step in the right direction.

Today, the Supreme Court overturned that ban — effectively legalizing machine guns in this country.

Let me say that again. Today the Supreme Court overturned a Trump Administration ban on bump stocks — effectively legalizing machine guns in this country.

Folks, this is just another example of why we need a Constitutional Amendment to make our communities safer from gun violence.

Republicans in Congress have refused to pass even basic gun safety reforms.

We have an out-of-control Supreme Court overturning century-old gun safety laws.

In the states, right-wing judges appointed by George Bush and Donald Trump are overturning commonsense gun safety laws proven to save lives.

California became the first state to call for a Constitutional Amendment on guns. We will not be the last.

As you read this, we are training volunteers and building organizing capacity in key states across the country to get that done. I have not - and will not - give up on this fight.
