Ted Cruz is usually known for blocking good legislation, so when we heard
he was introducing new legislation, we were already skeptical. And sure
enough, Ted’s new bill is nothing but more favors for the oil and gas
industry:

“Sen. Ted Cruz is leading an effort to repeal the Inflation Reduction
Act program designed to curb leaks of methane”

“oil and gas operators have been largely critical of the fee”

Methane is one of the most potent greenhouse gases in existence, and
methane leaks are responsible for a large portion of the rise in global
temperatures that are causing severe weather events to become more
frequent and more extreme.

The idea that oil and gas operators should take care to ensure leaks are
plugged — and that they should be on the hook for cleanup fees if they
fail to do so — is a no-brainer for just about anyone. But not Ted!

Texans deserve a senator who fights for ALL of us. But for his entire time
in Washington, Ted has actively worked against the interest of everyday
families.

Instead, he’s served the interests of his wealthy donors and Donald Trump,
putting everyday Texans last every time — and this new bill of his is no
different.
