Medication abortion is safe–for now. The Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that opponents of mifepristone–medication abortion that accounts for at least 63% of all U.S. abortions–lacked the legal right to sue, and therefore, obstruct our access to reproductive health care even further.
This is not the end of our fight, however–mifepristone and our health care access are not safe just yet. The ultraconservative supermajority on the Supreme Court could still ultimately decide our access to the widely used abortion pill based on an archaic law. That’s why we need your help to demand Congress repeal that law now!

Anti-abortion extremists could still attempt to restrict our health care access via the 150-year-old Comstock Act. The Comstock Act, a relic largely ignored for decades, has been revived by anti-abortionists as a dangerous weapon. The archaic law aimed to suppress what was once deemed to be “obscene materials” and could be used in the courts to ban or even criminalize the shipping of any abortion-related materials, including medication and medical equipment, which would effectively ban all medication abortion care in the United States.
Justices Thomas and Alito have already signaled the archaic law could be a focal point for the next legal battle.
The Comstock Act is a relic of the past, wholly incompatible with our modern understanding of abortion care and bodily autonomy. This law must be immediately repealed by Congress in order to protect mifepristone, abortion access, and reproductive freedom–you can send them a letter right now demanding just that.
