Dear Neighbor,
Every year members of Congress come together to put politics aside and play a game of ball at the Congressional Baseball Game. Folks from all around D.C. come to watch, and all the money raised goes to charities in the Washington area.
This year we raised a record of $2 million for local charities! I’ve always said that the real winners of the game are the communities we raise money for – including the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington and the Washington Literacy Center.
I have played in the Congressional Baseball Game since 2003. And I was happy to serve as head coach for the Democrats for a second year in a row – the first woman to coach in the game!
As a lifelong Dodgers fan, I grew up playing organized fast-pitched softball and casual baseball with my four brothers. I love the game and it’s a love that I’m proud to have passed on to my son, Joaquin.
While Democrats did not come out on top, I want to thank everyone who came out to support the game this year. I can’t wait to be back out on the diamond next year!
Sincerely,
Linda T. Sánchez
Member of Congress
