Dear John,
If you had visited Hammond, Indiana a few months ago, you’d have seen a perfect slice of American small-town life. But if you visited today, you’d see a heartbreaking example of our nation’s coronavirus tragedy.
With schools closed and families out of work, hunger is knocking on a lot of doors in Hammond. And across the country.
|
Please help children at risk of hunger today and in the months to come by making a generous gift to No Kid Hungry.
|
Donate today and our corporate partner PepsiCo will match your kind donation, up to a total of $1 million, for a limited time through April 30, 2020.
Any amount you can spare will make a difference.
Your support has helped to rush emergency grants to communities like Hammond from coast to coast. One of Hammond’s heroes is food service director Christine Clarahan.
She and her team had just over a day to prepare for feeding students when the schools closed.
On that first morning, as she and her staff handed out breakfasts and lunches to kids, the line of cars got so long city traffic came to a halt.
"I can't tell you how crucial the No Kid Hungry funding is," she says. "It's been a lifeline for us."
Hammond is only one of hundreds of communities nationwide you’ll be helping with emergency grants. And grants are only one part of our strategy to end childhood hunger.
Help us support heroes like Christine Clarahan feeding kids in communities coast to coast during this crisis and in the months to come. Your generosity makes you a hero, too!
And remember, PepsiCo will match your gift, up to $1 million, for a limited time.
Thank you in advance for your compassion and generosity.
With gratitude and best wishes for your health and well-being.

P.S. "I don't think I even have the words to say how grateful I am, because I'll just start crying," Clarahan said. "People would go hungry without this."
