Dear John,
The coronavirus has exposed what’s already been rampant in our society: ableism. Last year, the Disability Project housed at TLC was launched by Sebastian Margaret to address the violence and erasure that is now even more severe under the pandemic.
The project’s board is composed of trans and queer disabled people, two of whom will be speaking at our next virtual community gathering. RSVP for that vital conversation here. When the virtual gathering goes live today, all you have to do is tune into our Facebook page.
This virtual gathering, as with our past gatherings, will have Spanish and ASL interpretation. And from this week forward, we will provide CART live captioning for our community calls.
So many individuals, organizations, and movements are only recently recognizing the importance of disabled wisdom. But trans and queer disabled people have always been among us. We must invest in the brilliance of disabled communities.
Together in the movement,
Kris and the TLC team
