Good morning, friend, and sorry if the subject line of this email scared you, but I wanted to reach out and give you an update on some strange and concerning things my opponent, Joe McGraw, keeps talking about.
McGraw is a MAGA extremist who said he prayed for the overturn of Roe, thinks Democrats are the “antichrist,” and spreads racist conspiracy theories.
Please chip in to power us toward our $15,000 goal by Sunday night, and push back against incoming attacks from our MAGA opponent.
You may think the craziness ends there, but it doesn’t.
Instead of talking about the issues that our neighbors care about, he’s chosen to fill his stump speeches with references to Hitler, criticism of the separation between church and state, and apocalyptic language.
As Moline, Illinois’ Representative in Congress, I did not expect to ever go up against someone who brings up Adolf Hitler more than he does John Deere, but here we are. McGraw has repeatedly compared Joe Biden’s America to the early days of Nazi Germany. Yep, you read that right.
And why is that? Well, McGraw thinks the church needs to get more involved in politics. He even said, “There is no separation between church and state.” Clearly, he has no interest in defending the Constitution because he’s never read it.
But here’s the most concerning part, Joe McGraw is not saying this for clicks or likes. He really believes it. He thinks the stakes of this election are apocalyptic. He said, “We are in a final-stage struggle.” To be honest, I’m not even sure what that means, but I’m scared to find out.
I wish we could dismiss all of this, but our polling has this race tighter than ever.
Republicans are preparing to spend millions of dark money dollars on TV to prop up McGraw and sell him to voters as a moderate. Contribute $10 to help make sure we have the ability to tell voters the truth.
