Hi John -

A few weeks ago, we asked U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and other
finance ministers of the wealthiest nations to deliver massive investments
in renewable energy where it’s needed most.^1

Despite receiving over 10,000 letters from us, they failed to deliver.

So now, we’re going to Janet Yellen’s boss — President Biden.

This year’s UN climate conference, COP29, is dubbed the “finance COP.”
This means 2024 is a critical year to secure concrete action on funding to
deal with the climate crisis — particularly by the United States.

President Biden is meeting with the other leaders of the G7 starting
tomorrow, and we need him to feel the pressure from voters like you.

In the face of an escalating climate crisis, our movement turned up the
heat on President Biden and urged him to take real action on climate and
declare a climate emergency. Now, we have the opportunity to ramp up the
public pressure and get him to deliver massive investments in renewable
energy — especially when he faces re-election soon.

We need massive investments in renewable energy — roughly US $4 trillion
where it’s most needed each year — to maintain a safe and healthy
planet.^2

The United States is the world’s biggest economy, and largest emitter and
investor in oil, coal, and gas.

President Biden has a responsibility to lead the creation of a
transformative financial plan for our climate and champion renewables.

House’s inbox.

If the U.S. diverted its immense resources toward championing the fair
energy transition, we could have renewable energy that meets the needs of
communities everywhere.

But we need more than warm words. We need money.

The flow of cash must also be fair: it should not leave people in poor
countries burdened with enormous debt they can never get out of or be tied
to unfair conditions that prioritize rich countries’ profit.^3

[ [link removed] ]Will you help President Biden feel the pressure to do better by sending
a letter now?

In solidarity,

Deborah for 350.org
