Dallas Suffers Due to 911 Response Times
|
|
|
|
 |
Dallas crime is only getting worse. Simultaneously, Dallas residents are learning they can no longer count on emergency services because 911 call response times continue to rise due to the Police Department’s staffing shortage. This situation has become dire!
DPD currently has 3,000 active officers; 4,000 officers are needed to keep up with a city the size of Dallas. This deficit of 1,000 officers directly affects how long it will take for the police to answer your 911 call.
|
|
According to the Dallas
Express, the average response time for top priority calls is 10 minutes, and lower priority calls can have you waiting between 4-5 hours.
Dallas City Council doesn’t seem to understand that 911 calls are for emergencies. If they did, they would do everything possible to bring these numbers down. Dallas is losing businesses and residents because these issues are not being addressed. Contact your City Council member and inform them these response times are completely unacceptable!

District 13 Councilwoman Gay Donnell Willis
"Panhandler's Bounty Camp"
This camp in Gay Donnell Willis’s District 13 has been dubbed “Panhandler’s Bounty Camp.” The name refers to the vast collection of junk this vagrant has accumulated at this intersection. The City of Dallas seemingly has no interest in cleaning these spots up and enforcing the law barring pandhandling. Dallas residents are not made any safer by the current status quo, and the City Council must act as soon as possible!

District 13 Councilwoman Kathy Stewart
"Fire Hazard Camp"
This camp in Kathy Stewart’s District 10 has earned the title “Fire Hazard Camp.” The camp is at an abandoned gas station just in front of a walking trail. The vagrants have made the gas pumps their temporary home. Allowing for vagrants to live like this may prove to be a dangerous hazard for the neighborhood if there is any gas left in the pipes.

District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno
"Deep Ellum Hubris Camp"
We named this camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 “Deep Ellum Hubris Camp.” As stated above, Deep Ellum has become more dangerous over the years. Vagrant camps like this one are partially to blame for this trend. This camp remains ever present in the area despite police patrols. Vagrants are left to their own devices and are allowed to accost Dallas residents at their leisure. Dallas is suffering from hundreds of scenes just like this one!

Mission Statement:
Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
