John, it's Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau, and I am at a loss for words.
Last month, the Kansas Supreme Court released a ruling on challenged right-wing election security laws, championed by extremists like Attorney General Kris Kobach. This headline came across my desktop:

The Kansas Supreme Court majority ruled that the Kansas Constitution does not include a right to vote – upholding a string of voter suppression laws.
This ruling is going to prevent Kansans from having their say in one of the most important elections ever, and extremists are doubling-down on these regressive policies.
John, our Democracy is supposed to be for the people, by the people – not power-hungry politicians. This ruling has been a long time coming, and I have more information on it below. If you don't have time to read, could you make a contribution today to help the Kansas Democrats get more people-first candidates elected this year? [[link removed]]

After Donald Trump denied the results of the 2020 election, conservatives in Kansas took every opportunity they could to make voting as "secure" as possible, effectively disenfranchising thousands of Kansans.
They started with criminalizing voter registration drives by civic engagement organizations, making it extremely difficult to legally help folks register to vote. Then they required election officials to exact-match signatures on file with the county with signatures on ballot envelopes and reduced the number of advance ballots one person can deliver to 10, limiting the amount of advance ballots that get counted. Just last month Republican legislators revived a proposal to shorten the time that mail in ballots can be returned – despite rural voters depending on the often-stalled USPS to deliver them.
And these decisions have been upheld, cementing several of these harmful policies until new legislation says otherwise.
Far-right extremists are capitalizing on the election security fear they manufactured and are destroying the integrity of our democracy to increase their political power, all while Kansans' access to the ballot box is in jeopardy.
The Kansas GOP has made it clear that they are going to keep pushing back on our civil rights in the state, and we have to put a stop to this kind of behavior by electing more common-sense Democrats to the legislature.
