Capitol peregrine falcon chicks banded; naming contest begins

Three fuzzy white peregrine falcon chicks sitting on a red blanket

Two female and one male peregrine falcon chicks from the nest box near the top of the Nebraska Capitol building in Lincoln were banded and given a checkup June 12. Nebraska Game and Parks Nongame Bird Program Manager Joel Jorgensen reported that the banding went well and all three chicks appear to be in great shape. 

Want to name them? Submit name suggestions through June 20 online and vote for the finalists on the same webpage June 21-30. The winner will be announced July 1 and will receive a 1-year subscription to Nebraskaland Magazine.
