Dear John,
Did you hear the news? Today the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the anti-abortion case that sought to reverse the FDA’s approval of the medication abortion drug mifepristone—based on false claims that the drug is unsafe. The ruling ensures that mifepristone will remain available.
While the Court’s unanimous decision held that the plaintiffs had no standing and underscores the importance of evidenced-based abortion care, it is only a pause in the battle to protect reproductive freedom in the United States.
Abortion with pills is a safe and effective way to end an unwanted or unintended pregnancy, and it’s unconscionable that a group of anti-rights, extremist organizations and doctors are intent on erasing access to this essential health-care service.
Ipas will continue fighting to protect abortion access in the U.S.—and around the world. You can read our full statement about today’s ruling and learn more about our work in the United States on our website.
In solidarity,
Anu Kumar
