Over the last two weeks politicians have been flooding the airwaves with pledges of what they will (or won’t) do for us if we vote for them. It’s time we redress the balance and pass the mic to voters who have been weighed down by household debt.
On Wednesday 26th June at 6:30pm we will be hosting our online Peoples’ Manifesto General Election Rally and you are invited, friend.
10 million people across the UK are struggling to pay bills because of heavy debt, but during this election period no political party has addressed the household debt crisis or offered up a serious plan to tackle it.
People in debt can feel ashamed to speak out but why should we feel embarrassed to speak out about a political and economic system that has set us up to fail? We refuse to stay silent, and this event will elevate the stories of people with experience of debt.
As Jo told us in our recently released video:
“While huge corporations are profiteering, we’re being told we’re the problem. We need somebody to challenge that."
Debt often comes with stigma, so we need to share our struggles publicly. We also need to share our inspiring stories of resistance and solidarity, like our community organising wins in Glasgow and Manchester.
Join this free, online event to hear from the activists that led these successful campaigns, and from the people who produced the groundbreaking Together Against Debt People’s Manifesto.
Join us for an event that will energise, agitate and push for change!
In solidarity,
Richard, Joe, Debby and the Debt Justice team
Justice is possible
Across the world, millions of people’s lives are being destroyed by unfair debt.
But when we act together, we have the strength to win justice and build a fair economy that puts human life before debt.
Donate today to strengthen the campaign for debt justice.
