Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s pro-genocide opponent has spread bigoted Islamophobic lies about Jamaal and his supporters, including using my Dearborn neighbors in racist attacks this week.
Jamaal’s opponent, like too many members of Congress, doesn’t seem to see Palestinians or Muslims or Arab people as human beings. He’s spreading dehumanizing lies that are used to justify the ongoing genocide of Palestinians while fueling a rise in anti-Arab and anti-Muslim hate crimes.
We need more lawmakers like Jamaal Bowman who oppose this genocide, who recognize the humanity of each of their constituents, and who value every single life, no matter faith or ethnicity.
But new polling shows Jamaal may lose his re-election later this month due to the unprecedented influx of GOP money in his Democratic primary election.
Anti-Palestinian group AIPAC has spent $15 million from right-wing billionaire donors to support Jamaal’s opponent so far. That makes Jamaal’s opponent the top recipient of AIPAC money in this election cycle. This could be the most expensive Congressional primary ever.

I need Jamaal Bowman by my side in Congress, especially as so many of our colleagues continue neglecting our communities’ needs while sending billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to bomb Gaza.
Jamaal Bowman is one of the few members of Congress consistently condemning Israel’s war crimes while voting to hold Israel’s government accountable.
After the International Criminal Court’s top prosecutor announced he’s seeking arrest warrants against Israel’s genocidal prime minister Netanyahu, the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives voted to sanction the International Criminal Court.
Top leaders in Congress from both parties also extended a formal honor to Netanyahu. Jamaal Bowman said he was “horrified,” adding: “By inviting Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress, we [Congress] are stating to Palestinians that your lives do not matter, that your lives are less sacred, less precious, and less valuable than other lives.”
The first Black person to hold this congressional seat, Jamaal Bowman uplifts communities who’ve been ignored for too long by our government. I’ve been proud to co-sponsor Jamaal’s legislation to support Black history education programs, make billionaires and corporations pay their fair share, stop the racist and antisemitic “great replacement theory,” and more.
Meanwhile, AIPAC has endorsed more than 100 lawmakers who undermined Black and brown voters by trying to overturn 2020’s election. These members of Congress are now trying to censor discussions of racism in schools and ban diversity initiatives in public education.
Of course the far-right billionaires funding AIPAC want to unseat Jamaal Bowman: He’s one of the strongest progressives in Congress. The far-right is afraid of our movement for equal rights, freedom, and human dignity for all. We can’t let them interfere in Democratic elections.
As Jamaal has pointed out, this is a clear example of how big money in politics is destroying our democracy. He doesn’t take money from corporate PACs, instead relying on small-dollar grassroots donations from people like you.

Because my colleague Rep. Jamaal Bowman speaks out for Palestinians’ human rights, his racist opponent tried to attack Jamaal and my neighbors this week, saying: “Your constituency is Dearborn, Michigan.”
This Islamophobic statement stokes racist fears that endanger families in my district, which includes Dearborn—a beautiful, diverse, and vibrant city with an Arab American majority and one of the largest Muslim populations per capita in our country.
Using my Dearborn neighbors in anti-Arab, Islamophobic attacks is unacceptable.
As the Arab American Institute said: “We're everyone's constituency and anti-Arab racism must be condemned.” Meanwhile, Jamaal’s opponent’s constituency seems to be lobbyists in D.C. and Trump-supporting billionaires. Racist Republican mega-donors have sent Jamaal’s opponent $15 million through anti-Palestinian group AIPAC.
Jamaal Bowman has spoken out against far-right attempts to interfere in his Democratic primary election and our democracy. He also called out his opponent’s “Islamophobic dog whistle” this week, saying: “I love our Muslim and Arab neighbors in NY16 just like I love our Jewish, white and Black neighbors here and across the country. I’m fighting for all of us.”
Jamaal’s primary is less than two weeks away and recent polling shows that these racist attacks from his opponent and AIPAC are weakening Jamaal’s support.

Meanwhile, Jamaal’s opponent is the top recipient of AIPAC money in this election cycle, taking $15 million from far-right Republican billionaires that are interfering in Democratic primary elections across the country.
A POLITICO analysis just found that “AIPAC is the single biggest source of Republican donations into Democratic primaries.”
Flooding Jamaal’s district with racist ads and mailers, AIPAC’s Republican supporters are also urging fellow Republicans to switch parties to vote against Jamaal. This anti-democratic strategy weakens the voting power of Black and brown progressives in working class communities, drowning out and disenfranchising marginalized voters.
We’ve got to have Jamaal’s back in the next two crucial weeks before his June 25th primary election, as AIPAC is spending $25 million to unseat this progressive champion.
