The Supreme Court is about to deliver the Big Oil-backed Koch network a big win later this month—here's what you need to know and what we can do about it.
The Chevron doctrine (also called Chevron deference) has been used for decades, directing courts to defer to the experts at federal agencies when interpreting complex or unclear laws.
Now, the Supreme Court is about to release a ruling that could kill or limit this commonsense practice.
And this has a huge impact on climate and many other issues you may care about. It'll allow rightwing, climate-denying judges to step in with their own legal interpretations, no matter what the experts at agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) say.

How we got here: This case has Big Oil's fingerprints on it all the way through. They helped Donald Trump stack the court with a bunch of corrupt justices, brought the sham case being used to overturn Chevron, paid for the lawyers arguing the case, and are close to their goal of undermining EPA and other agencies' ability to do their job.
