Hi John,

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling that would have banned mifepristone, a medication to end pregnancies—with a safety record of over 99%—that has been legal for more than 20 years. This is, of course, an important victory for abortion access. But, the fact that the Supreme Court was weighing in on this is yet another reminder of how much work we have to do in the fight for reproductive freedom. And that work depends on our ability to win elections.

Since the fall of Roe v. Wade in 2022, reproductive health care bans have eliminated some or all access to abortion in 20 states. The effects of this are stark: one in three women—plus trans and nonbinary people—has lost access to abortion in their home state.

The lawsuit that jeopardized medication abortion was just one example of the GOP’s strategy to chip away at reproductive freedom. Make no mistake: The GOP’s decades-long project to take away this basic freedom reached a crescendo with the 2022 Dobbs decision that gutted Roe v. Wade. But it hinged on Republicans' ability to win elections and stack the Supreme Court, Congress, and state legislatures with anti-abortion extremists.

To stop this dangerous plan in its tracks and pave the way for federal protections for abortion access, we’re launching the [Swing Left Abortion is on the Ballot Fund]([link removed]). A contribution to this fund supports:

- Ballot measures in Arizona, Nevada, and New York, where voters will decide the fate of abortion access in their states
- Democrats in five key U.S. Senate races essential to holding the majority that will abortion protections and confirm liberal judges
- North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein, who will serve as the critical last line of defense against statewide GOP anti-choice legislation
- The Swing Left Pennsylvania State Fund, which supports the Democrats running to hold the State House majority and gain ground in the State Senate to get ahead of a potential ballot measure in 2025

While we can’t restore abortion rights overnight, our ability to achieve reproductive freedom long-term hinges on winning a federal trifecta and key state-level gains this November.

Let’s show the GOP that a fight against reproductive freedom is a fight they will lose. And that the vast majority of Americans are on our side.
