In less than a week we gathered 1500 signatures on our petition to keep the New York’s presidential primary on June 23rd. We put out the call, and the people have spoken to Governor Cuomo and the Board of Elections. We said all New Yorkers should have the opportunity to vote for the Democratic candidate for President of the United States on June 23rd.
June 23rd is also the day when NY-12 can stand up and reject the lack of representation we’ve had the last 27 years. Many things need to change in Washington D. C., but the first is securing local representation so the everyday needs of the district are heard in Congress.
This amazing team of volunteers is on the phone every day talking to members of our community. Less than 3% of the thousands of voters we talk to are happy with the way things are. The way things have been for decades. I want to bring change to NY-12.
But I’m going to be blunt—it won’t be easy. How could it be when I’m taking on not only an incumbent backed by millions of dollars from corporate PACs and large-dollar donors, but also a challenger who has secured campaign financing from real estate connections? Money is a huge part of this battle and I need it to win, but I also know that the situation for many is tough. If you're able to, chip in $14 RIGHT NOW and give me a fighting chance. We’re behind on our mid-month fundraising goal, but I know we can catch up.
Running for office has been the biggest honor of my life. It energizes me every day to talk to volunteers and voters who believe in the work we are doing. I wouldn’t be here without your support.
