This Sunday, we honor dads. Meet Evan, a cancer survivor who will celebrate this special day for the first time as a father.
"In March of 2022, I received the sudden and gut-wrenching news that I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. One of the first questions I asked my doctor was about my ability to have children in the future. I was engaged to be married to my now wife, Hannah, that year, and becoming parents was always our dream," Evan said.
"Without a clear sense of the severity of my cancer and treatment, I was instructed to take precautions and seek out fertility planning. I had absolutely no idea what that entailed and that was when I was connected with Livestrong's fertility program. The organization provided me with vital information, generous assistance to support my fertility preservation, and gave me peace of mind knowing I was surrounded by a community that had my back. My family is incredibly grateful to have found Livestrong during such a crucial juncture.
Two years later, I am elated to say that I am cancer free and celebrating my first Father’s Day as a dad with my beautiful daughter, Paige. The gratitude I feel is immense and difficult to put into words. Being a dad is the greatest privilege life has given me and seeing Paige is a daily reminder of how lucky I am."
Last year alone, Livestrong helped more than 1,000 people preserve their fertility, saving them over $10 million. With your support, we can give even more people a chance to have a family in the future. This Father's Day, will you give to help more cancer survivors like Evan fulfill their dreams of parenthood after treatment?
