John, the COVID-19 crisis has left millions of Americans at risk of losing their jobs -- and their health insurance. It has also made more vulnerable the millions of Americans who don't have healthcare benefits through their employer and those who are underinsured.

Good, effective government is supposed to be there for people in their most dire moments, serving the public. But the current administration has refused to take the most basic step: re-opening the Affordable Care Act marketplace for a special enrollment period to help those affected by COVID-19.

This decision is horrific and indefensible. There will be a human cost to it. In my time as an emergency room physician, I've seen too many families wrestle with the decision to seek urgent, life-saving care because they cannot afford it. Failing to open up ACA enrollment during this crisis will put millions of more Americans in this dire situation.

I took an oath as a doctor to "Do No Harm." I won't be silent when I see actions (or, in this case, inactions) that will cause irreparable harm to the masses who are struggling to survive both physically and financially. The administration's decision is cruel and cannot stand.

Join me -- demand that the administration reverse course and allow for a special ACA enrollment period. The only way we can sway them is through a massive display of activism, so we need as many signatures as possible. We need you.
