Hello! This is Kate De Lanoy, Director of Communications at the Mercatus Center, stepping in for Ben Brophy this week.
The last two weeks have been full of milestones for us here at Mercatus. On June 1st,

Ben Klutsey moved into the role of

Executive Director succeeding our previous director of 10 years,

Daniel M. Rothschild .
Ben grew up in Ghana, West Africa, and moved to America to attend Lawrence University in Wisconsin. After graduating, he went on to study public policy at George Mason University, where he became familiar with the Mercatus Center. In 2008, he joined the Mercatus team full-time as a research assistant.
While he left Mercatus for a brief stint at another organization before returning in 2014, Ben steps into this role with well over a decade of experience at Mercatus. He’s worn a variety of hats, including managing our financial and monetary policy research teams. He then led our outreach to academic centers across the country, and most recently led our program on Pluralism, which works to unite Americans with a return to civil discourse.
On a personal note, I’ve worked with Ben for close to ten years now, and have always found him to be incredibly thoughtful and optimistic about the power of free market principles. I am very excited to see where he leads Mercatus and to be a part of his team.
Ben Brophy will be back with the next newsletter, but you may see pop back in from time to time. Until then!
