Dear John,
We have been working with communities in Guatemala to improve people’s health, defend their rights and challenge marginalisation since 1995. Today we launch our 'Guatemala in Focus' [[link removed]] appeal, showcasing our work alongside these communities.
Together with community members, health workers, public officials and activists, we're supporting predominantly Indigenous Maya communities to improve access to healthcare, challenge ethnic discrimination, empower women and more.
Please give whatever you can today and support communities as they build a healthier future! [[link removed]]
Our team in Guatemala is drawn from the communities that we work alongside, enabling us to engage with people more effectively than many public officials and voluntary organisations.
"We speak the same language as these communities; we’re part of the community. We are trusted within the community...this means we can provide much more holistic support than those who aren’t." - Olga de Leon, K’iche’ Community Facilitator, Health Poverty Action
Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing more about the groundbreaking work that our team is doing with our partners in Guatemala - from supporting pregnant women and newborn infants' health to encouraging better nutrition in communities.
A donation of £9 could cover the cost of training a health worker in quality antenatal and newborn care! [[link removed]]
We can only engage in this kind of long term work with communities because of supporters like you. Your contributions are truly valued; please give whatever you can today.
Warm regards,
Siaffa Bunduka,
Supporter Engagement Manager
