The House has not yet voted on Amendment 48 to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), so we need to keep the pressure up!

If passed, this amendment would restore Americans’ right to due process of law and prohibit the government from imposing “indefinite detention” (imprisonment without trial) of American citizens.

This is urgent: we already see the signs of an administration absolutely desperate to create hysteria before the November elections.

Right now, the President of the United States can throw people he deems “enemies of the state” into prison without them ever being charged with a crime.

No president should ever have that power! You and I MUST repeal the indefinite detention provision NOW – especially since we are in the run-up to a major election in which they will stop at nothing to manipulate public opinion at the last minute.

But if we can pass NDAA Amendment 48, which repeals the provision allowing for the indefinite detention of American citizens without due process, we can shut this unconstitutional act down upon passage of the National Defense Authorization Act.

Call your representative RIGHT NOW at (202) 224-3121 and tell him or her to support Amendment 48 to the NDAA!

Here is a simple script you can use when calling your Representative:

Hello, this is [your name] from [your city and state]. I’m calling to tell you to support Amendment number 48 to the National Defense Authorization Act to eliminate the provision that allows for indefinite detention of American citizens without due process.

Please advise the representative of my comments. Thank you.

Your calls and petitions made a huge difference in changes to the NDAA last year.

We need to keep up the pressure. If you’ve already called, call your representative again at (202) 224-3121 and ask what they are going to do.

And if you haven’t yet called, now is the time!
