A month ago, the UCLA and USC administrations called hundreds of riot police to arrest students and workers exercising their right to protest the genocide in Palestine. In the weeks following, USC has continued to militarize the campus.

• TONIGHT! June 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Join DSA-LA’s Palestine Solidarity Working Group for an organizing meeting.  This working group will be focused on organizing actions, educational events, phonebanks, coalition building, and more in solidarity with the struggle for Palestinian liberation.
• Thursday, June 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm: We continue to pressure LA City Councilmembers to support a ceasefire resolution. And we need your help! We will flood councilmembers’ phones by calling constituents of their district, asking them to call her office. Phone zapping is very easy, and someone will be there to guide you if you’ve never done it before.
• Friday, June 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm: Come join us for postcarding in North Hollywood, at Republic of Pie, as we reach out to constituents of Councilmember Krekorian to encourage them to contact their councilmember in support of a ceasefire resolution through LA City Council.

• June 15 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm: Canvass in DTLA for Rent Control! 

  Councilmember Kevin de León​ has regained his seat on the Housing & Homelessness Committee, and so he is a must-win vote in favor of stronger rent control. He’s facing a progressive challenger (DSA-LA endorsed Ysabel Jurado​) so it’s time for him to show us whose side he’s on, landlords or tenants?

  We’ve got only a few more weeks to mobilize renters before the vote. Come help us spread the word and ask KDL’s constituents to make their voices heard!

• June 13 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Monthly campaign meeting! Following our 2024 campaign kickoff, DSA-LA’s Power Mass Transit Campaign will meet regularly on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Join us to discuss our two prongs of Free Transit for LA Metro and Public Services: #stationsneedstalls!
• June 15 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm: Canvass on the Westside! Come join us for the first westside transit canvass of the year! We’ll be talking to metro riders about how the transit system in LA can be improved and how they can take direct action.

• June 17 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm: Join us for our June electoral open meeting! We will be covering our campaigns as we head into the general election, Los Angeles electoral terrain, and more. We’ll be having a discussion on Bill Fletcher Jr.’s article “How Socialists Can Govern”, so feel free to read this short article before the meeting: https://www.dissentmagazine.org/article/how-socialists-can-govern/​

• June 15 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm: 

  The entertainment industry continues to be a hotbed of growing worker power. IATSE locals are currently bargaining for a new contract agreement. The dust is settling after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and the industry has changed. What lessons can we take from 2023’s strikes? What’s going on in 2024? How can continue build cross-industry solidarity? How do we grow a strong working class movement?

  As part of DSA-LA’s Labor Committee’s Strike Hype series, join us for a panel discussion featuring rank-and-file members of WGA, SAG-AFTRA, and IATSE alongside Los Angeles City Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez to talk about these questions and more!

• June 15 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm: June Branch Meeting! Interested in getting involved in fighting for a Socialist Los Angeles? If you live within the San Fernando Valley and are interested, then this event is for you. Join to have the opportunity to organize with fellow Socialists.

• June 16 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm: Join DSA-LA’s Eastside + SGV Branch for our June Hike! We’ll be hiking the Eaton Canyon Trail in Altadena, talkin’ socialism, and just all around having a blast together. Bring a hat, snack, water, and sunscreen.
