Dear John,
I have some great news to report: we’ve been working all week to defeat five reprehensible anti-Boundary Waters amendments that U.S. Rep. Stauber attempted to attach to a “must pass” bill (the National Defense Authorization Act) that funds our military and defense programs. One of these amendments would overturn the Boundary Waters watershed mining ban put in place just last year.
However, thanks to your help and pushback this week , Rep. Stauber’s blatant political attack almost completely failed, and we were able to defeat FOUR of the FIVE amendments!

With your help, we defeated 80% of Rep. Stauber’s toxic agenda to ram sulfide-ore copper mining adjacent to the Wilderness! Unfortunately, the U.S. House is very likely to pass his last amendment. Thank you so much for this resounding victory for the Boundary Waters, but we need to tie up some loose ends and make sure the Senate kills the remaining amendment as well as his bill H.R. 3195 that would rescind our hard fought for and won protections the Biden Administration issued last January.
Please contact your Senators [[link removed]] now and ask them to stand up against:

bill

This is a good moment for Canoe County. We were loud and strong enough to stop these amendments despite the fact that there is a pro-mining U.S. House. With your help, we can finish the job in the Senate.
