TEXAS MUSIC OFFICE NAMES CHIP ADAMS AS NEW DIRECTOR [ [link removed] ]

?

Chip Adams serves as the Director of the Texas Music Office. In his role, Chip is responsible for leading the office?s efforts to support and grow the Texas commercial music industry. During his years at the TMO, Chip has played a key role in enhancing the office?s community engagement and outreach initiatives, fostering relationships with music stakeholders and city governments. Under his leadership, the Texas Music Office continues to strengthen our great state?s industry by working with musicians, businesses, government entities and trade organizations.?

He began his career promoting Texas music over twenty years ago in Dallas as a radio DJ, hosting weeknights on the now defunct commercial AAA station KKMR Merge Radio 93.3fm.

With a desire to work directly with artists to help their careers, his next stop was a move to NYC to work for the Cornerstone Agency, handling radio promotion and editing the tastemaker website TheTripwire.com. Chip worked with emerging artists including Frightened Rabbit, Arctic Monkeys, and Gorillaz, successfully launching them to the commercial alternative specialty radio format. While editing The Tripwire, he coordinated features with Henry Rollins, Saul Williams, Brett Anderson and music industry icon Tony Wilson.

After returning to Texas, Chip handled radio and marketing for the Los Angeles independent label Dangerbird Records. During that time he worked the Grammy nominated album "Swoon" from Silversun Pickups, as well as artists including Minus The Bear, Sea Wolf, and Fitz & The Tantrums.

In 2010 he co-founded Modern Outsider, an internationally distributed independent record label and artist management company, working with a variety of acts from Texas and around the globe. Modern Outsider?s roster included the Texas-based acts The Bright Light Social Hour, Walker Lukens, Moving Panoramas, Star Parks, Ume, and many more. Modern Outsider was voted Austin's Best Record Label in the 2016 & 2017 Austin Chronicle Music Awards.

Additionally, Chip has served as a Governor on the Board of the Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy since 2014.

Chip and the Texas Music Office team are proud to serve as the voice of the Texas music industry.
