Hi Friend,
As I prepare to celebrate Father's Day for the first time, I can't help but reflect on the journey that led me to this joyful moment. In 2021, I received clemency after serving 28 years of a mandatory life without parole sentence, and my second chance— a second chance not only at life but also to be a good example for someone.
For the past three years, I have worked hard to be an excellent example for the many men I met while incarcerated and those who also got their second chance and were eager to work hard and be good family men or members of their community. I wanted to be their support just as FAMM, and its community, had supported me.
Now FAMM and I are asking you for your support, Brian. Will you donate to support FAMM this Father's Day? https://act.famm.org/a/fathers-day-2024?ms=email
FAMM's Second Chances Agenda aims to create as many mechanisms as possible to reunite families and reduce mass incarceration. These include passing "second look" laws, expanding compassionate release, and using clemency more often.
Becoming a father has transformed my life and renewed my sense of urgency. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a positive role model for my child and a new generation, just as I have been for those still behind bars. Every father deserves a second chance to be a positive role model in his child's life.
That's why I'm asking for your support this Father's Day. Please help us honor every father and family impacted by an unfair system by donating to FAMM today and helping thousands of families get the second chance they deserve: https://act.famm.org/a/fathers-day-2024?ms=email
Sincerely,
Dennis "Freedom" Horton for FAMM
