John
As of Monday evening, we fully re-opened Fort McHenry Channel and restored business at the Port of Baltimore.
One of our top priorities in the wake of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was to reopen the federal channel as quickly as possible. By working together, we turned a months-long projected timeline into weeks — and bounced back faster than anyone could have anticipated.
I applaud and sincerely appreciate the many partners who made this possible – from the Unified Command to the federal delegation to the Biden-Harris administration. This has been a remarkably complex operation, spanning thousands of people, hundreds of assets, and multiple objectives. Our achievement is government cooperation at its best.
With the Fort McHenry Channel now open, more Marylanders can get back to work at the Port of Baltimore. Now, our focus remains on rebuilding the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
When we stand united, we achieve our goals. Together, we will continue to prove the full meaning of Maryland Tough and Baltimore Strong.
Elevate,
Wes
