The City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities (BOPU), Cheyenne Wyoming, will conduct a public meeting at 2:00 PM, local time, on June 26, 2024, in the Engineering Conference Room (2nd Floor) at 2416 Snyder Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001. The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the Sherard Hypochlorite Conversion Project. The project will include conversion of the existing chlorine gas disinfection system with an on-site generated sodium hypochlorite system and an interim bulk sodium hypochlorite delivery system.
At the meeting, BOPU will present the preliminary design of the proposed project and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements. Based on current cost estimates, BOPU plans to borrow four million dollars ($4,000,000) from the Wyoming Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. Increased user rates will be used to repay the loan. Loan terms will be 1.5% interest rate for a twenty-year term with an annual payment of two hundred twenty-seven thousand dollars ($227,000).
