Friends,

No one should be forced to choose between their health and their constitutional right to vote. But as our country continues to battle an unprecedented public health crisis, too many Americans are being faced with that very decision.

Last week in Wisconsin, the state's GOP refused the Governor's call to reschedule their election and switch to mail-in voting. Hundreds of polling places were shut down, thousands of people did not receive their absentee ballots, and as a result, voters had to wear face masks and in many cases, wait in line for hours to make their voice heard.

Here in Washington state, we already have universal mail-in voting, which will allow people to exercise their right to vote without sacrificing their safety this November. We've seen firsthand that our system works. But many states don't have these same protections, meaning millions of people will have to decide whether to risk their health to go to the ballot box or stay home.

We need to ensure that every citizen is able to safely vote. Add your name to join me in calling for universal mail-in voting to protect voters' rights and well-being.

In Congress, we voted to pass the bipartisan CARES Act, which includes funding to ensure people can safely and securely vote during a pandemic. But we have much more to do to make sure everyone can cast their ballot safely.

President Trump has repeatedly attacked the idea of expanding mail-in voting, falsely claiming that it is "corrupt" and "dangerous." He even went so far as to call on Republicans to reject statewide mail-in voting because it "doesn't work out well for Republicans."

We can't play politics with people's health. If we're going to ensure everyone's voice is heard this election while keeping people safe, then we must take action immediately to implement mail-in voting for every state.

We can't make Americans choose between their health and their right to vote. If you agree, add your name to join me in demanding universal mail-in voting.
