During the May TREC Meeting, the Commission proposed rule amendments?which primarily rearrange existing requirements?clarifying that the Texas Practicum is an experience requirement (categorized by statute as field work) and is separate and apart from an educational course.
Education providers can still offer the Texas Practicum, but will no longer need to submit a course application for the Texas Practicum or issue course completion certificates to students. Instead, students will submit the credit request form to the agency to obtain credit.
This change was recommended by the Texas Real Estate Inspector Committee (TREIC). You can provide public comment on the proposed changes until July 7.
The Texas Real Estate Inspector Committee (TREIC) Standards of Practice subcommittee wants your input on potential updates to the Real Estate Inspector Standards of Practice. The SOPs are reviewed in their entirety on a regular basis by TREIC and are modified as needed to reflect current laws and rules, as well as based on feedback from inspectors and the public.
Once it has completed its review, the subcommittee will share its recommendations with TREIC and the full Commission. Any recommendations made to the Commission will go through the formal rulemaking process before changes are made.
The SOP subcommittee is beginning its SOP review virtually on June 21at 9 a.m. CT and will focus its discussion on 535.227, Standards of Practice, General Provisions. Provide your public comments or make plans to attend the virtual meeting.
