June’s Open Screen will centering stories of organizers and activists on the front lines of environmental justice and climate change work. In addition to the curators, we have special guests from the Minnesota Environmental Justice Table who will be speaking on work happening locally.

Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that traditionally celebrates revelation and Torah. Join JVP Twin Cities for an evening of learning and discussion, revealing together our shared anti-Zionist Torah of collective liberation. We will also be collecting tzedkah funds for Gaza.

Join us for a celebration of Liberation at Soul of the Southside, a FREE event for all ages. Discover the vibrant spirit of Juneteenth – a holiday rooted in the African-American observance of liberation. Dating back to June 19, 1865, when our enslaved ancestors in Galveston, Texas, received the news of the Emancipation Proclamation, Juneteenth represents a powerful act of freedom and resilience. There will be live music, art, family activities, food, and more!

AMP and Ayada Leads are excited to announce a joint book club meeting for the month of June. We will be reading “I Saw Ramallah” by Mourid Barghouti and host a beneficial discussion in a few weeks. Join us on Saturday, June 22, from 6-8 PM at Open Book. Refreshments will be served, and voices from both the Palestinian and African diasporas will exchange ideas and commentary. Reminder: You can show up even if you haven’t read the book.

Insurgent Transmissions is a film series highlighting the varied Palestinian experience. Join Mizna for a screening of Foragers by Jumana Manna. In addition to ticket fees going to support the featured Palestinian filmmakers, we will be raising money for Middle East Children’s Alliance’s efforts in Gaza, an initiative which has been responding to the urgent needs of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

The annual Twin Cities Pride Festival will be held at Loring Park and Parade Park in Minneapolis June 29–30, 2024 and will feature local BIPOC and LGBTQ+ vendors, food courts, a beer garden, and music stages.
🌿 BioBlitz at Wakan Tipi
Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible with the goal being to get an overall count of the plants, animals, and other organisms that live in a place. This is an opportunity for all members of the community to learn from and collect data with environmental professionals and community partners as we survey pollinators, plants, dragonflies, birds and more. All ages and backgrounds are welcome and no prior experience is necessary!
