Dear friend,
Because of your interest in and support of our response to the novel coronavirus pandemic, I wanted you to have access to this special edition of Alert, our quarterly magazine. This is a special opportunity to access this magazine that is normally reserved for our monthly donors.
From Italy to Ivory Coast, from Cambodia to Haiti, we are adapting existing projects and opening new ones to combat the spread of this deadly virus within the vulnerable communities in which we provide care. Our direct response to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, is evolving daily and is based on our decades of experience fighting outbreaks of Ebola, measles, meningitis, and many other infectious diseases. But it is the support of our monthly donors that have made our rapid response to this pandemic possible.
If you are able, will you become a monthly donor and join our Field Partner giving program today? You’ll receive access to exclusive events, live calls, and important updates from our programs in more than 70 countries around the world. You’ll also receive Alert, our quarterly magazine featuring powerful stories and photography of your support in action.
Setting up your recurring gift only takes a moment but it will enable us to save lives every single day.
Thank you so much for your dedication to this work.
Sincerely,
Melanie Sovern
Field Partner Program Manager

Subject: Standing up to a virus that knows no borders
The coronavirus pandemic will touch each and every one of us—our families, our friends, our communities, and, of course, the people we serve. With projects and teams around the world, Doctors Without Borders is responding to the crisis in a wide range of settings.
Our teams are used to dealing with emergencies, but we’ve never experienced anything on this scale. This pandemic affects nearly all our medical projects around the world, whether directly or indirectly. We are adapting to meet the extraordinary challenges presented by COVID-19 while fighting to sustain our lifesaving medical projects and care for tens of thousands of patients with other urgent needs. That’s why we wanted to share this special issue of Alert with you.
In the latest issue of Alert, our quarterly magazine, we dive into how we’re responding to the novel coronavirus emergency and the unique challenges we’re facing during this pandemic. We also share an in-depth look at how we’re working to avoid catastrophe in northwestern Syria as daily bombing and shelling have displaced almost one million people in the last four months and COVID-19 adds another layer of complexity to an already dire situation. Read this special issue of Alert to learn more.
Thank you for being a part of our global movement to provide urgent medical care where it is needed most.
