A day after the United Nations Security Council endorsed a U.S.-backed cease-fire proposal for the Gaza Strip, the focus shifted on Tuesday to the willingness of Israel and Hamas to make a deal, as the NYT reports.
 

Surprising U.S. economy is powering better global outlook

The global economy is in better shape than it was at the start of the year, thanks largely to the performance of the United States, the World Bank said in its latest forecast Tuesday, as The Washington Post reports.
 

Ukraine’s Battered Energy Sector

Ukrainian officials have called on western partners to provide billions in aid for their country’s battered energy sector, as Russian air strikes have forced power companies to impose nationwide rolling blackouts, as the FT reports.
