# [#]61 years ago this week, our country took a huge step forward in the fight against pay discrimination with the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. But, our work continues today.

Decades after that landmark law, women still take home less than their male peers for the same work. And the disparity is even greater for women of color.

It is well past time to act.

Throughout my time in Congress, I have proudly supported legislation to end wage discrimination – but now, it’s time to finish the job.

From holding employers accountable, to demanding pay transparency, ensuring affordable child and elder care, and paid family and medical leave – there’s still a lot we must do to tackle the injustice of pay inequality at every level.

This systemic issue calls for swift action. I’ve fought to ensure women and families here in San Diego and nationwide can prosper, and I need you to stand with me and continue advocating for fairness and justice – for all Americans.

On a personal note, it’s important to me that you know that everyone in my office earns the same amount for the same work. It is incumbent on all of us to take steps to address the inequities so many women face in the workplace so that we can close the gender pay gap for good.

Thanks for adding your voice.
