Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I'm back in Washington, D.C. for another week of votes and legislative activity. Follow me on social media to see updates on what's happening in Congress and how I'm fighting to protect our conservative Kansas values. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov     The Week Ahead This week, the House will consider a resolution to hold U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee. Last year, House Republicans issued subpoenas to more than 20 people related to the President Biden impeachment inquiry, including Attorney General Garland. The Attorney General refused to comply with those subpoenas even though the evidence makes it clear -- President Biden knew about his family’s shady business deals. No one is above the law. For three and a half years, Americans have watched as President Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) have targeted their political opponents in the name of justice. This weaponization of government is never acceptable. I will not stop fighting for DOJ to end this political abuse and to hold actual bad actors accountable. H.R. 8580, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2025, also stops taxpayer dollars from being used for abortion services, protects the 2nd Amendment rights of our veterans, and bans the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from processing claims for illegal immigrants. Our veterans and active service members deserve our unwavering support both at home and abroad. I will always support our nation's heroes. Click here to read more about my vote. Demanding Answers about the Politization of Pres. Biden's Small Business Administration Recently, President Biden's Small Business Administration (SBA) tasked itself with registering voters in swing states that would benefit President Biden in the November election. American small businesses are facing record-high inflation and record amounts of burdensome red-tape. The SBA needs to focus on American small business owners – not elections. These actions are un-American, and I can assure you that Kansans in the Big First have no interest in the SBA acting as a campaign arm for President Biden’s reelection. I made a commitment to rein in the Biden Administration's abuse of power, and I will continue to hold President Biden's SBA accountable for its weaponization and abuse of the federal government. Watch my full remarks during the House Small Business Committee hearing on the weaponization of the SBA below. Meetings in the Office U.S. Global Leadership Last week, I met with Kansas Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Beam, and other Kansas food and agricultural leaders during their trip to Washington, D.C. with the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC). USGLC understands the pivotal role that our agricultural producers play in protecting America’s national security. As the member of Congress for the third-largest agriculture producing district in the country, I value the work that USGLC does to advocate for American agricultural producers as they answer the noble calling of feeding the world. Thank you, USGLC, for meeting with me. National Grain and Feed Association Whether it's livestock production, ethanol production, or purchasing food at a local grocery store, we all rely on grain elevators, processors, transporters, and manufacturers. The National Grain and Feed Association is a community of agribusiness professionals and an example of the interconnectivity of every aspect of American agriculture. It was a pleasure to have them in the office last week and hear about the recent work they are doing for agricultural producers in Kansas and across the country. Kansas Farm Bureau I enjoyed meeting with Grant County Kansas Farm Bureau member, Marieta Hauser while she was in Washington, D.C. last week. Marieta and I discussed the Farm Bill that recently passed out of the House Agriculture Committee and some of the policies that were included in it – like crop insurance. Kansas agricultural producers face unpredictable obstacles like droughts and natural disasters. Crop insurance and other safety net programs support the livelihoods of agricultural producers and in turn keeps our food security strong. I’m proud to have helped pass the next Farm Bill out of committee for Kansans like Marieta, and I look forward to voting for it on the House Floor soon. Mothers Against Drunk Driving On average, 37 people in America die every day in drunk-driving related car crashes. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is focused on ending drunk driving for good and serves as a lifeline for thousands of victims and survivors. I appreciated meeting with members of MADD and learning more about their work across the country. We were able to discuss my recent legislation, the End DWI Act, which would create a national ignition interlock standard by encouraging states to adopt a mandatory first-time ignition interlock law, to help reduce recidivism and improve road safety by ensuring fewer drunk drivers are on the road. Thank you, MADD, for the work you are doing to protect Americans on the road. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Scoular & Louis Dreyfus Company Last week, I met with two leaders in agricultural small businesses. Scoular is dedicated to buying, selling, storing, handling, and processing grain, feed, and food ingredients. Louis Dreyfus Company is a leading merchant and processor of agricultural goods. Agricultural manufacturers like Scoular and Louis Dreyfus are critical to getting agricultural goods to consumers. I enjoyed learning more about their work, discussing obstacles they are facing due to burdensome regulations and supply chain issues, and sharing my work in both the House Agriculture and Small Business committees.     Constituent Services: Passports If you are traveling outside of the United States in the next year, be sure to apply for a passport at least 6 months before your planned departure date.
