John,
This month, we honor the resilience, diversity, and love of the LGBTQ+ community. Pride Month is a time to reflect on the progress we’ve made, acknowledge the challenges that remain, and reaffirm our commitment to equality for all.

Here in Miami-Dade, I was proud to be a part of the successful fight in 1998 to reinstate our gay rights ordinance, which Anita Bryant had famously repealed in 1977.
Since then, the face of the anti-LGBTQ+ movement may have changed, but its tactics remain very similar. I am proud to support the LGBTQ+ community and fight for equality and against hate today as I have done throughout my career.
This Pride Month, let’s continue to support and uplift one another. I encourage everyone to attend local Pride events, support LGBTQ+ businesses, and engage in conversations that foster understanding and acceptance.
Happy Pride Month!
