Happy Pride Month, folks! June is an opportunity to celebrate the progress that has been made in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality — but it’s also a time when we can reflect on what we have left to achieve to secure rights and protections for the LGBTQ+ community. We’re only halfway through the year and the GOP has already written 11 anti-LGBTQ bills in Arizona and over 500 across the nation. These ongoing restrictions and acts of hate against the LGBTQ+ community — especially toward students, parents, and those battling with illness — are cruel. Everyone deserves to feel safe and be safe, regardless of who they love or how they identify. No one should ever have to apologize for celebrating the strength and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. This Pride Month, it's our collective responsibility to stand with the LGBTQ+ community and continue our efforts until we reach true equality.
