First and foremost, we hope you are well.

To our readers,

First and foremost, we hope you are well. During this uncertain time, we believe it’s more important than ever to come together, and we’ve been working on different ways to accomplish that here at Ballotpedia. Here are a few projects we would love to work with you on below.

BP Volunteer Day

This Friday, April 17, Ballotpedia is hosting our first ever Volunteer Day. We’re asking readers like you to join us in collecting information about local responses to the coronavirus pandemic. Ballotpedia is providing comprehensive coverage on how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting America's political and civic life.

The Ballotpedia reader community is a powerful resource for gathering and distributing more information than our staff can do on its own. We hope to harness our readers’ insights and experiences from their own neighborhoods. I hope you will consider spending some time sharing information with us. Every contribution will have a lasting impact.

Here are the details:

  • There are multiple shifts available. We want this to work for you.

  • Ballotpedia staff will be there on Volunteer Day to guide you through the process, share our favorite working playlists, and facilitate a fun and productive afternoon!

  • We will be hosting a virtual get-together to cap it all off. Bring your best cocktail or mocktail (recipes forthcoming) and join us for a post-research hangout.

Ballotpedia Class

I also wanted to let you know about a new educational resource for students we developed to fit the unique circumstances we’re now in. Ballotpedia Class is a three-part lecture series on government and civics. Our first one is Thursday, April 16 on The Difference Between State and Federal Governments.

To share this learning opportunity with students, just send them the link to the registration form, where they can sign up for any or all the lectures. You can find more information on this and other educational resources Ballotpedia can offer students while they are learning remotely here

Learning Journeys

We’ve been gathering new content for our educational Learning Journeys. Have you always wanted to learn more about the history of presidential primaries? Or maybe you’re interested in civil service. Whatever your interests are, we invite you to try out one of our Learning Journeys. Each journey includes a series of emails taking you deeper into the topic. Best of all? You get to set your own pace.

Explore Ballotpedia Learning Journeys here.

We at Ballotpedia are so grateful for our reader community. We look forward to working alongside you this Friday and in the weeks and months to come.

Hope to see you soon!
