I just turned in a huge stack of petition signatures, which means I am officially running for reelection to the U.S. Senate!
I'm running for two main reasons:
1. We’re losing the middle in the Senate.
2. There’s a lot left to do.
In a Congress and nation that is deeply partisan, my position as an Independent has helped bridge the divide. And we’ve gotten some important things done in the last few years -–the CARES Act to send direct economic assistance to American families and businesses hurting during the COVID pandemic, the Great American Outdoors Act to protect our public lands, the PACT Act to expand benefits for our veterans, the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure bill, and the CHIPS and Science Act which has already resulted in an explosion of investment in bringing semiconductor manufacturing back home. All of these accomplishments were the result of bipartisan negotiation, debate, and compromise. And it’s that spirit of working together I'm afraid we’re losing.
Our work isn’t done. From the unsustainable cost of prescription drugs to the unacceptable attacks on reproductive rights, our nation is grappling with serious and complex issues.
I’m going to keep doing what I always have: encourage compassion and civility and try to bring people and politicians together across party lines to get things done. Here’s the deal, though: this won’t be possible without your support. Friend, would you consider becoming a Founding Donor to my reelection campaign by chipping in $10 or $20 today?
