John,
Our campaign in South Texas is having a big impact! And Texas media are taking notice.
The Texas Tribune just wrote up Ground Game’s work in the city of McAllen, where our ballot measure would require campaign contribution limits for local candidates, and would allow local voters to exercise direct democracy powers like initiative, referendum, and recall.
We are very excited about this news — which will help us collect the last bit of signatures we need to qualify our measure for the November ballot, and will motivate McAllen voters to support our ballot proposition.
Ground Game Texas is making news and engaging voters by running a direct democracy campaign near the U.S.-Mexico border. Please support our work with a $25 contribution today!
John, the Texas Tribune celebrated the work of three Ground Game Texas organizers, Karen Salazar, Elena Pacheco, and Jimena Rodriguez, who are part of a larger team that has been braving the Texas heat to qualify our petition for the ballot. At community gatherings, markets, youth baseball games, through door-to-door outreach, and more, our team has gathered over 5,000 signatures in support of our McAllen democracy petition.
Momentum for this campaign is growing. We expect to turn in our petition signatures next week. And now with increased media attention, the people of McAllen will be even more excited to vote this November.
Support our work today! And help us boost voter turnout this Fall.
Building momentum for political change,
Ground Game Texas
