Close up of a vast pile of clothing waste

John,

Shein is the biggest fast fashion brand in the world, part of a monstrous industry churning out mountains of clothes every day. Just a single pile of this vast waste in Chile’s Atacama desert is visible from space!

Now, a groundbreaking law in France could finally bring this planet-wrecking industry under control – but Shein is sending its lobbyists to try to block this law at the last minute. So we’re fighting back!

We’re ready to launch an all-out lobbying push with lawmakers, commissioning polls to show how popular this anti-fast fashion law is, then blasting the results across the media to really ramp up public pressure.

The vote in France could happen any day now – but with your help we can move quickly to counter Shein’s lobbyists in time.

If all of us chip in just $3 or more, we can get the world’s first-ever anti-fast fashion law passed and save the planet from toxic ultra-fast fashion. Can you help?

Synthetic materials commonly used in ultra-fast fashion, like polyester, require *342 million barrels of oil every year*. That’s how fast fashion giants like Shein became responsible for 10 percent of the world’s carbon emissions – more than all international flights and shipping COMBINED.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Shein has been hit with a slew of reports exposing how its workers toil for 75-hour weeks in terrible conditions, paid wages that they can barely survive on.

But we have a golden opportunity to slam the brakes on an industry that has been allowed to destroy our planet and violate workers’ rights with impunity for far too long. France’s proposed law would completely ban fast fashion advertising and put an environmental surcharge on fast fashion items sold.

This law is so close to passing the final hurdle but Shein can still sway the Senate vote – the Senate is in recess for a couple of weeks, but after that, it'll be too late. That’s why we’re ready to unleash a huge lobbying effort, targeting key lawmakers, sharing polling results, and making our collective voice so much louder than Shein’s to make sure this law passes!

If we can get this first-of-its-kind law passed in France, it will open the door for a wave of anti-fast fashion laws all over the world.

Shein will try anything to keep the fast fashion hamster wheel of misery, waste and destruction spinning – but it hasn’t factored us into its plans. With all of us chipping in just $3, we can help stop toxic ultra-fast fashion for good. Can you help?

Together we’ve made huge changes in the fashion industry before, like when Ekō members all around the world called on The Iconic and Loblaw to take responsibility for the safety of its workers and they agreed to sign the Fire and Building Safety Agreement. We can do it again!

Thanks for all that you do,
Miriam and the Ekō team
