A New Framework for a National Plan on Aging
The Administration for Community Living invites you to attend a public webinar on June 10, at 2 p.m. ET, for an overview of its new report ?Aging in the United States: A Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging.? The report lays the groundwork for a public-private effort to create national recommendations that support healthy aging and inclusive communities that truly value older adults?including those with disabilities. Developed by 16 federal agencies and departments, the framework considers the many factors that help people age, live and work with independence and dignity, such as high-quality services and supports; coordinated health care and supportive services; and accessible, inclusive communities and workplaces.

Employment Success Story: With VR Support, an Army Vet Gets Behind the Wheel of a Big Rig
Former U.S. Army mechanic Sara Stewart came to Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) in an unusual way. After more than six years in the Army, she was medically discharged with a back injury. She began considering other career options, including truck driving, a well-paying position for which she had the skills. But the job required training and a special license?and this is where VR stepped in with support, funding Sara?s training. She passed all her exams and has now been working for several years. Read more about Sara and other success stories on ODEP?s National Center on Leadership for the Employment and Economic Advancement of People with Disabilities (LEAD Center) webpage.
