Help others discover the healing power of nature Take a breather: National Get Outdoors Day is almost here
Trust for Public Land

Whether you've read the research or not, I bet you know through your own experience, John, that spending time outdoors, especially surrounded by trees and plants, can do wonders for your health. Studies have shown that nature can reduce blood pressure and stress hormones while boosting mood and concentration.

Here at Trust for Public Land, we believe these benefits should be accessible to everyone. Unfortunately, right now, far too many people lack easy access to the parks and trails that can provide so many personal, family, and community benefits.

That's why, for five decades, Trust for Public Land has worked to create, expand, and protect trails across the United States. We deliberately focus our work in communities where parks and public lands are needed most.

With National Get Outdoors Day, there's no better time to support our mission. You can help connect people to nature and to each other: donate now to help make the outdoors more accessible to all.

You might have heard of the Empire State Trail, a 750-mile marvel that spans New York State (and if you haven't, trust us, it's truly special). But did you know that it currently stops short of reaching over 8 million New Yorkers? (Spoiler: not for long!)

As part of our goal to connect millions more Americans to the outdoors, we're getting ready to break ground on a nearly 200-mile extension of that trail called the Long Island Greenway. This new route will create one of the most extensive public trails in the nation, and it's just one of the many projects we're hoping to launch this year.

John, we rely on the support of people like you to create these vital outdoor spaces, doing what we can to ensure that everyone has access to the countless benefits of nature.

Will you celebrate National Get Outdoors Day with us by making your first gift today to help us create more opportunities for people to connect with nature and enjoy the benefits of outdoor recreation?

Great trail systems make outdoor spaces in cities more accessible—meaning more fun, more joy, and healthier communities. Let's celebrate the importance of preserving our natural spaces for future generations. Your first gift will provide mental and physical health benefits by giving people a place to connect with the outdoors right where they live.
