Today is April 15th. If it were any other year, today would be tax
day, but in light of COVID-19, the government has extended the
deadline until July 15th. This is only one of the ways COVID-19 has
changed our way of life and will continue to do for the foreseeable
future. It has even changed the way we fight for trans equality.

But it has not stopped us. If anything, it has increased our
work-ensuring trans people and the most vulnerable communities
are included in the COVID recovery. Though we've had to make
changes, our work continues just as much as ever before.

And there is new opportunity for you to help us continue and expand
this ongoing and challenging work. The recent CARES Act has not only
provided stimulus checks for many people, it also expanded benefits of
charitable deductions for taxpayers for the 2020 tax year (filed in
2021). This is great news for supporters of trans equality like you.

If you're anything like 90% of American tax filers, odds are you
take the standard deduction. With the CARES Act, you'll be able
to deduct up to $300 in direct donations for the 2020 tax year on top
of the standard deduction! This means if you start a $35/month
donation to NCTE today, when it's time to file your taxes next
year, you'll have donated enough to claim the full $300
deduction. Can you make a tax-deductible gift of at least $35/month to
help make sure NCTE keeps championing trans equality during these
uncertain times?

We know that these are challenging times. But unfortunately, that
hasn't stopped anti-trans extremists from advocating against our
rights. Thankfully, NCTE knows how to weather tough times; we never
have and never will back down. I hope you will continue to help us in
this fight.
